Http attributs

Http headers are composed of :
  • A first line containing the request statuts.
    Example : HTTP/1.1 200 OK
     
  • 1 few line contining some attributes on the request.
    Example : Content-Type: text/html

Http Attributes sent by the server gives more informations on options applicable to the current http request.

Theses attributes are not normalized so you can find different ones. Here is a report of the most commons.

 
 Date
Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 13:14:13 GMT
The date and time of the request.
 
 Server
Server: Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) Debian/GNU
The server name and, in most cases, the OS.
 
 Last-Modified
Last-Modified: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 13:10:01 GMT
The date of the last modification which occured on the file.
 
 Content-Length
Content-Length: 27740
The weight in bytes of the file.
 
 Content-Type
Content-Type: text/html
Indicates the type of content to be coming.
It can be : text/html, text/plain, image/gif ...
 
 Connection
Connection: close
Tell the browser the connection will be closed after the page will be sent.
 
 Set-Cookie
Set-Cookie: B=djerheefglv0i; expires=Thu, 15 Apr 2010 20:00:00 GMT; path=/ ; domain=.yahoo.com;
Wouha ! You can set a cookie without html ? Yeah, it's true...
 
 Location
Location: http://lc2.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login
In case of a 3xx http header code. Indicates the redirection url.
 
 Cache-Control
Cache-Control: private
Expires: Tue, 01 Jan 1980 06:00:00 GMT
Pragma: no-cache
Theses attributes are destinated to proxies.
